AP Art: Long Island's Best competition for the Heckscher Museum

This Month we will be working on the Long Island's Best competition for the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington.  The Entry Forms must be completed in February and the work must be framed and deliver in person in March.  We'll review some of the museums art and discuss the process this week.

AP Art: Long Island's Best Artwork On View Alongside Mitchells Spring Collection

Congratulations to AP Art students Anna Koke and Ilysa Sirota who's Long Island's Best Artwork from the Heckscher Museum was chosen to be exhibited alongside Mitchells Spring Collection in Huntington.  The work will be on view in the storefront window from April 23 - May 20, 2018.

AP Art: Upcoming contest deadlines

We have a few important upcoming contest deadlines in AP Art listed below:

Long Island's Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum
Deadline: Friday, February 16

Artwork must be based on a work shown in the museum in the past year and be framed, wires, and ready to hang (example of a submitted work above)

2018 Congressional Art Competition
Deadline: Friday, April 6

Artwork must be based on a "an artistic discovery", 2D, smaller tham 28", and original

AP Art: 2013 Long Island's Best Show


Congratulations to Smithtown High School East's Gabby Lynn who's photograph was included in the Heckscher Museum's 2013 Long Island's Best Show.  Students from 49 high schools across Long Island submitted artwork for jurying and from the hundreds of submissions Curator Lisa Chalif selected only 80 for display.  All of the pieces were inspired by works shown at the museum and both the student work and the inspiration pieces will be on view at the museum until April 21, 2013.

AP Art: Long Island's Best


The deadline for entry into Long Island's Best High School Artists competition at the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington is coming up March 8 and Devon, Carissa, Kerrin, and Gabby were chosen to represent High School East so make sure you complete and submit the registration form and let's all cheer them on!
