Studio Art: AI, Art, & Magic

This week we are learning about Artificial Intelligence and how some artists, like Refik Anadol shown in the video above, are using it to help create art works.  We are going to use The Magic Sketchpad to create a collaborative drawing with Google's AI like the demonstration I created with the AI below drawing a series of butterflies. I found it to be a bit like drawing with a young child as they are often impulsive and make curious decisions but that's part of what makes it fun, looking forward to seeing what you create!

Digital Media: Teachable Machines

We are going to continue exploring AI and machine learning today in class by working with Google's Teachable Machine to train our computers to recognize different input images. We'll be incorporating this into future projects as an input device.  We'll begin by teaching the computer AI to distinguish between 3 different images of yourself using the chromebook camera. Once we've completed that we'll record a short 10 second video of it working and submit that to the Google Classroom.

Digital Media: AI for Mountain Zebra National Park

This week we learned about how AI and Machine Learning works with Code.org’s AI for Oceans and then began use the skills we learned to work on the snapshot project for Mountain Zebra National Park by finding animals, fires, or people in photographs take by camera traps.  Today we will move onto the next step and classify 10 of those animals and prepare to talk with biologist and photographer Alexander Braczkowski who uses these AI tools as well as drones and robots while studying and filming tree climbing lions in Africa.  We’ll be speaking to him as part of National Geographic’s Explorer Classroom series this week.

Digital Media: STEAM Career Infographic

In Digital Media we are creating a STEAM Career Infographic based on a career of interest and we will be including an AR component.  We will research and answer 5 basic questions about the career as well as giving a basic description and examples of successful people in the career on the poster.

We will also be learning about AI and machine learning for HOUR OF CODE this week with a new code.org assignment on the topic: AI oceans puzzle
