Studio Art: Typography
In Studio Art class we started working on a Typography design project yesterday and the terminology that goes along with it. We learned some of the basic terms involved with type that you can review on our quizlet here- Typography terms
We also learned a bit about the history of type to understand better where it might go next. Remember it's not just an alphabet we are dealing with its a living language that is constructed through design and usage. We will continue by creating a letterform design this week (like example below) until we have a full set and then I will show you how you can digitize them and create a font.
We are completing our Typography this week as the last project of the quarter. Make sure you font designs are complete for Friday in class as it's the last day grades will be inputted before midterm week.

Studio Art: Typography
In Studio Art we are learning about the basics of Typography and creating our own unique font set. First we will design out own alphabet A-Z and number 0-9 fonts then add color and effects before digitizing them to complete the process. Check out the example below which shows the first step of the process.
And here is an example that I created showing what a complete letter might look like- it's from a project called 36 days of type in which people are inspired to create and share a font design each day.

Studio Art: Typography
FROM PAPER TO SCREEN from Thibault de Fournas on Vimeo.
In Advanced Media and in studio art classes we are currently working with typography and the short video above gives a terrific overview of what we have been learning. In advanced media we are in the process of creating a similar kinetic typography animation collaboratively and in studio art students are completing their first type design project which is due today.
