Digital Media: Video Game Character Design

In Digital Media class we began work on our Video Game Character Designs yesterday in Adobe Photoshop.  Each student should create 2 character designs with at least 3 different perspectives and a full body drawing as well as the name and a short bio of the character on each page.
Here are some professional examples of character designs from the Simpsons to use as a reference.  We are not drawing as many perspectives or showing how the characters move and articulate but it's helpful to consider it before beginning your video game.

Studio Art: Street Art Quiz



Today in Studio Art we will discuss the Banky's documentary and take our Street Art Quiz to set us up for our next project on Monday.  The Quizlet outlines a few of the most important street artists that we learned about here: Street Art Quizlet.  Posted above is Banksy's intro for The Simpsons and below is the ad for his Dismaland Park which came out after the film.

Media Art: Character Development


In Media Art class we are currently developing characters that we will be working with in animation.  we begin by sketching out ideas then create a character sheet like the one above of Kent Brockman from The Simpsons.  Next we will create a short pencil test animation of our character moving, below are a few examples of pencil test animations from The Simpsons and independent animator Bill Plympton's.
