Media Arts: The bully interviews
This week we had the opportunity to talk with a few celebrities about their careers, advice on the industry, and most importantly bullying. Here's the first edited clip from the interview with Brock Ciarlelli (from ABC's The Middle) with a good question from Sabrina. Additional clips will be posted next week.

Japan Society Talk: Hiroshima survivors speak with President Truman's grandson
We are continuing our work with the Going Global project today and before we begin we are going to learn a little bit about the vocabulary and how the Japanese school system works in the video above.
Today we also have a special opportunity to virtually attend an education event at the Japan Society which features a talk between two survivors of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, Ms. Setsuko Thurlow and Mr. Yasuaki Yamashita, who will share their reflections, remembrances and personal testimonies with President Harry Truman’s grandson, Mr. Clifton Truman Daniel on Ustream.

Skype talk with screenwriter Kevin Bisch
Yesterday we had a fantastic and candid talk with screenwriter and Smithtown alum Kevin Bisch via Skype in the classroom. Kevin discussed his days at Smithtown East, how he broke into the business, his professional advice, and the story of his first big film Hitch as well as answering questions from students. Above is a short snippet from the hour long discussion which proved to be both a terrific learning experience as well as a fascinating story!
