In Painting and Studio Art classes we are creating Artist Trading Cards this week as the last project of the quarter. They are small 2.5" x 3.5" art cards that can be shared with other artists around the world. We will create a series of 5 cards in any media that all fit into a theme chosen by the artist and we'll send out 4 of the 5 cards to other students in the 2018 Worldwide Artist Trading Card Swap. In the past we have seen our cards travel to 3 continents and we have received cards from students in 12 countries and 18 states. The 5 cards will be due by the end of the class on Friday and when the are complete we'll label the backs with our first name, school, location, year, and my twitter handle @timneedles so we can find out where they end up!

Studio Art: Artist Trading Cards
This weekend I mailed out our Studio Art and AP Art Artist Trading Cards for the global swap so we should be receiving our cards shortly from around the world. I mailed out over 300 ATCs this year so they will be processed and sent around the world. Above is a look at some of the great, creative ATCs that students created in class and art honor society.

Studio Art: Artist Trading Cards
This week we are going to learn about and create Artist Trading Cards that will be exchanged with other students from states around the US as well as countries from around the world. The video above shows some ATCs that I created with fellow art teachers around the world this summer as part of a daily art challenge called #TERPart (The Everyday Renaissance Project). Well be participating in the Mini Matisse ATC exchange so you can take a look at some examples of the work done so far as well as some suggestions from the organizer, teacher Nic Hahn. You can see a sample of how many different states participated in the ATC exchange last year on the map below:

Studio Art: Artist Trading Cards
We are creating Artist Trading Cards this week to participated in @MiniMatisse's 1st Annual Artist Trading Card swap with other schools across the world. Above are a few examples created by artists and teachers such as myself from a trade I arranged this summer.
Each student in Studio Art, Drawing, and AP Art will create 6 Artist Trading Cards that are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" based on a theme of their choice (and the media will depend on the class). We'll measure out the paper and create the ATC's then cut them at the end because it's easier to keep track of them.
When they are finished well critique and photograph then prepare them to be mailed out. On the back make sure to write your name, school, state, teacher, age, grade, date, and the title and medium used. Above are a few more professional examples from contemporary artists for the art hustle collection. When we receive our ATC's later in the year we'll have a gallery show of the art cards we created and the cards we received.
